Cricket South Africa has fired suspended chief executive Gerald Majola after he was found guilty on all charges placed against him during a disciplinary hearing.
Majola did not attend the hearing but the CSA accepted the verdict, handed by Chairperson Karel Tip, who found him liable for accepting bonuses without informing the board during the staging of the 2009 IPL in South Africa.
The incident first rose in August 2009; however CSA denied any wrong doings at that time, though ordered a thorough investigation. An audit was done by KPMG before further exploration into the matter was conducted by Judge Chris Nicholson, who ultimately advised the board to suspend Majola pending a hearing, the results of which came out today.
New Zealand Cricket Board have added former speedster, Shane Bond, to the national team?s coaching staff, appointing him as a bowling mentor following the ending of Damien Wright?s tenure.
Bond, who has been working with the board to promote cricket in the region since retiring, had earlier expressed his desire to work with the upcoming pacers in order to bring consistency to their game. New Zealand has a hectic schedule ahead, which sees them taking on Sri Lanka, South Africa and England.
"The last couple of years have been about preparing myself to perhaps have the opportunity to take this role, and I'm just rapt that I got it,? he said.
Sydney Sixers? all-rounder, Shane Watson, has backed his franchise to go all the way in the ongoing Champions League T20 following an impressive start to the campaign.
The Sixers are the inform side in the competition after they defeated Chennai Super Kings, Yorkshire and Highveld Lions in their group. They have already qualified for the knock-out stage and are certain to top their group.
Watson, whose stint with the Sixers has been cut short following Cricket Australia?s decision to call him back ahead of the South Africa series, is confident that his franchise can wan without him.
"For us (the Sixers) to be able to qualify for the semi-finals was certainly my goal," Watson said. "It's going to be sad to leave. I know with the quality of group that we have, we're a real chance of winning this."
